Obsidian is a note-taking and, moreover, note-visualization and organization app. It has a highly customizable interface — including plugin ecosystems as well as superficial thematic controls (I recommend the Discordian theme).
When it comes to mapping out projects or writing notes for a research project, Obsidian helps me copy down my cluttered thoughts and then manage that clutter afterwards which allows me to stay in a creative flow-state longer — paying more attention to the ideas rather than the form.
